This past week I bumped into someone here in Japan who asked if I was going to update my blog anytime soon. I have to admit I was somewhat embarrassed to say that I had let it go. Once I fell behind, I never bothered to try to catch up. That’s a poor excuse but that’s the way it is.
Long story short: I completed my tour with the Marines and then moved over to a Cruiser at Pearl. We’re presently deployed and I’m writing this from a US base in Japan.
The good news is that I just received word that my sea tour is coming to a close. Once we return to homeport, I should have just a few months left before I’m up for 3 years of shore duty. It will be nice to get back into the swing of a more traditional chapel style ministry. I think I’m ready for that. These last few years have been good, but my opportunities to preach and conduct worship services have been limited.
Next up: I’m on deck for Command Chaplain at Naval Station Everett. I still haven’t received any papers on the assignment, so nothing is official. But a phone call from the detailer indicated that’s what’s coming up next for us. So goodbye Hawaii and hello Seattle!
First things first: I need to finish this Western Pacific cruise with about 360 of my closest friends. We’re making the most of this deployment to the Far East. We’ll be hitting a number of exotic ports. Guam and Hong Kong were great, but the best is yet to come!
More soon,
Grace to you and yours,
JC
